Testimonial - Cristina O'Halloran
My father told me that he visited you yesterday to see if you could repair his hearing aid. I understand that the hearing aid might have to be sent off to the manufacturer because the problem looked to be complex. Then last night, he answered a knock at the door to find you there with his hearing aid, repaired and ready for use.
Thank you so much for repairing the hearing aid so quickly, for taking it to my father who is lost without it, and for the wonderful and caring service you provide. You are the John Lewis of the hearing aid world. Your professionalism and thoughtfulness are so much appreciated. Thank you so much again.
Testimonial - Mr King - Welling
Mr King's story: Like most men of my age,I had been in almost complete denial about my gradual hearing loss. It was quite acceptable for my wife to have hearing aids, but I was convinced that I did not need them. I could hear perfectly despite any evidence to the contrary.
However, I was persuaded.when my wife went for a review of her hearing and Chris Martin offered me a free no obligation hearing test, I accepted. To say that the results surprised me was an understatement. It turned out that I had quite a significant loss in both ears.
Less than two weeks later I took delivery of my two tiny and very unobtrusive Phonak Audeo Smart behind the ear hearing aids.
Was this a life changing event ? Perhaps not but it was certainly life altering,or maybe it would be more correct to say life enhancing.Definitely.
Domestic bliss ? No ! Domestic harmony - certainly. No more hearing only parts of what my wife said,no more asking for the TV sound to be turned up.No more not hearing her in the garden or allotment.
Sometimes, in the morning I still forget to put the Phonaks in my ears, but almost immediately on going downstairs their absence is noticeable. As I now say "I haven't got my ears in !"
Testimonial - Michael Pearce - Seaford
From a child of 7 years old I have had problems with my hearing, caused by chronic ear infections (no antibiotics then) and perforated ear drums. Although the ear drums subsequently healed, I was aware that I could not hear as well as I should. This probably impacted on me more than most as a young man because I played music semi-professionally.
With the passage of time my hearing inevitably deteriorated and by late middle age, poor hearing was affecting my social life significantly as well as causing me to lose interest in music. I could no longer hear middle to high frequencies and everything sounded dull and muffled. Eventually, with some prodding, I decided to visit Seaford Hearing Centre. Mr. Davies tested my hearing and recommended Agil Pro mini RITE hearing aids. They have improved my hearing to such an extent that I think it is better now than it was as a young man. Difficult to measure or say with certainty, but that is how I feel.
Speech perception is now perfect and appears to be better than many younger people. It has also rekindled my enthusiasm for listening to music, which is something I did not expect a hearing aid to do.
They are very easy to insert and I hardly notice they are there and what is more, nobody else notices them either. Sometimes I do not wear them for a while so I can experience the buzz of hearing again when I put them in.
It may be, of course, that hearing aids will not make such a drastic improvement for every body, but surely it is worth trying. They are not the cheapest items in the world but if hearing loss is spoiling your quality of life, I would highly recommend a trip to Seaford hearing Centre.
Testimonial - Julia and Mabel - Seaford
Julia and Mabel have fine voices - but they would be the first to admit that quality of hearing is an important factor in their performances with the Choral Society.
Both are patients at Seaford Hearing Care Centre - and both are delighted with the performance of their hearing aids.
Julia sings tenor and is the only woman to sit with the male choristers. She is thrilled with her Oticon ITE. She told us, "I can hear everything the conductor says - but most importantly, I can keep my aid in whilst performing. It is very comfortable - and nobody notices that I am wearing it."
Mabel is also learning to play the cello. Her two Oticon BTE aids are performing equally impressively. She said, "These are the first aids that I have been able to wear whilst performing.
Whatever my musical environment, the quality is natural; I can hear every note as well as everything my instructor says." Both agree how well their aids perform in group situations.
The oticon range of hearing aids is the digital solution aid that Robert Davies 'discovered' when he visited the American Academy of Audiology Convention. The instrument uses digital technology to identify the wearer's environment and adapt to the ambient surroundings, completely automatically and seamlessly.
Testimonial - Christie - Sevenoaks
Nothing could prepare nursery school teacher Christie for the clarity in sound she experienced after we had fitted her with a new Phonak instrument at our Sevenoaks Hearing Care Centre.
Having worn a hearing aid from the age of 5, her last in-the-ear system literally fell apart after 20 years. Of course the technology has moved on in leaps and bounds since then and we knew that she would notice a startling difference.
Day one with her new system was a shock, particularly in the nursery. "The noise! I couldn't believe what I could hear", she said. "To begin with it was quite stressful. I had been living in my own private world and I got such a rude awakening that I almost wanted to get back there. My hearing aid was set at 80% of normal hearing and even that was very loud."
After this shaky start and a few adjustments she soon began to appreciate the benefits - and working with children became easier than ever before. She was able to hear them speak more clearly and could interact much more readily.
"But the biggest difference is being able to appreciate the world around me. Birds singing, rivers flowing, even the fountain in my next door neighbour's pond!"
Last word from Matt Cannon at our Sevenoaks Care Centre: "Seeing the transformation in Christie is professionally very fulfilling. Her story is also a wake-up call for the many people who suffer from hearing problems, but refuse to admit that there is anything wrong."
Testimonial - Peggy and Hilda - Seaford
It was an unusual, perhaps even a rare sight - a set of 83-year-old identical twins, visiting Seaford Hearing Centre to receive treatment for hearing loss.
Peggy and her ever-so-slightly younger sister Hilda were double in every sense. They were dressed identically down to matching shoes, handbags...even walking sticks. The twins have lived together for most of their lives and now reside at Hometye House in Seaford.
It is not surprising that they had very similar hearing loss and that we were able to fit them with the same hearing aids. They were fitted binaurally with Resound cic hearing aids. Cic means 'completely in the canal'. They are small enough to fit well inside the ear and are virtually invisible.
Peggy and Hilda have been back since for their follow-up visit and to tell us how their new aids were performing. Peggy was delighted - and, not surprisingly, Hilda agreed!
